ABA or Applied Behavior Analysis is an evidence based intervention or therapy that helps children diagnosed with Autism learn a variety of skills. The skills that are taught are individualized to the needs of the child but include areas of learning including: communication, social skills, play skills, following directions, toileting and more! ABA utilizes and alters the environment in a positive way to promote learning. Here at Complete Connections, we focus on the individuality of the child and provide positive reinforcement while ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
Here at Complete Connections, we believe that teamwork is important. There are many different roles in ABA therapy, each one is important for the success of your child and the team.
Child/Client- This is the individual who receives ABA therapy and services.
BCBA- Board Certified Behavior Analyst. The BCBA is the individual who develops your child's treatment plan, assess their progress and adjusts accordingly. The BCBA provides supervision to your child as well as the RBT and will sometimes provide direct therapy with your child.
RBT- Registered Behavior Technician. RBT's are typically the individuals who provide direct services to your child by following and implementing the plan created by the BCBA . RBT's are required to complete a training and pass an exam to ensure proper training.
Parent/Caregiver- The individual who is the primary/legal guardian for the child receiving ABA services. As the parent/caregiver you will receive "Parent Trainings" from your BCBA. These Trainings will incorporate all things ABA from learning the lingo to implementing your child's plan.
